Nana’s House

I don’t have many memories of my grandmother’s house, but these three illustrations sum up most of what I do remember. I remember that everything was red, yellow, or blue, except for the plants, which grew in an indoor courtyard with pebbles instead of soil. The best feature of the house was a red pole in the entryway, which perhaps was some sort of structural element, but I just remember it as incredibly fascinating and endlessly fun to try to climb. My grandmother fed us simple snacks: provolone cheese on bread and apple slices, all served on her red, yellow, and blue plates.
